    Default Signum Elite steering

    Hi chaps,

I've got an 07 Signum ELite that came with 215/55/17 with ET41 offset on which the steering isn't exactly precise (I've had focus & A3 before) but was OK and i was told that the Vectras/Signum's are like that.

I've put Vauxhall 225/45/17's (ET41 offset again) on it as they look a bit prettier but the car pulls now with any odd bump, pot hole or whatever which makes it hard work to keep straight.

So, I have two questions that hopefully someone who knows can help me.

    1) Can i get something(s) adusted to sort the steering out on my new wheels?

    2) Once I've sprted the above, is there a way of sharpening up the steering on the Signums so they're not quite so, err, loose?

    Any help appreciated.

    Ta,
    Nick

215/55/17 (your original tyre size) isn't the correct fitment by the way; it should have been 215/50/17. The 55 section tyre is for the 16" wheel - 215/55/16.

if you chang the wheels and make the wheel base wider then you will get tracking and you forever trying to keep straight. The only way to sort it out is to find a car with these whells as standard and replace the steering rack and suspension parts to match. All car are produced to run on certain whellbase . If you could fit wider wheels on all cars you would have the same part numbers for every car but the suspension is different on all Vectra C's. even the tie rods on a vectra with 16' wheels a re different to 17'.

    Hi Chaps.

    THanks for the responces.

Big Dar - thanks for the insight. I had assumed that the steering hardware etc of most the 'standard' Vx's would have be the same as it would keep things cheap, but obviuosly not.

Looks like I'll be swapping thew back then ....
