My car is being particularly sluggish under 2000rpm lately. It pulls well over 2000, but it's not as lively as it was before.
Mind you, it's done over 155.000miles...

Time for a good service, fuel system cleaner (millers or similar) & a good old Italian tune down the nearest mway...
Don't throw any more money at it time to think about a change .........
There comes a time ............... I've done it .................
HI as I have said before if it is sluggish below 2000 then get you turbo cleaned out the vains are sticking together that will cause this. it is a variable vain turbo if the vains clog up it causes boost pressure problem tickover problem throttle problems and more because it is vacume and electric.
It's had a nice service not so long ago. I'm not using any fuel system cleaner and never will again either...that resulted in serious misfiring and poor coldstarts.
Tadpole I'm trading it in for a newer V6CDTi with 90k and warranty soon anyway
sb1uk I still can't quite understand the concept of a variable vane turbo with sticking vains...wouldn't it be rubbish in performance all the time then? Fuel economy is more than good, it's not smoking much thanks to the new EGR...
Hope you get this sorted first, then sounds a good idea don't forget the pics ..... ..............
Variable vane turbos are intended to reduce lag, if the variable element isn't working because it's sticking - you're going to experience lag.
