jerks back when changing gear

just bought a vectra exclusiv 1.8 06 and i love it but the only thing what's doing my head in . when i set of in first gear then when i change to the second gear it jerks back and some time in third gear to so i took it back to the car dealer and he said its becous its a v something engine
is it me or is it the car

Sounds like an engine or gearbox mounting thats shot!

VVT's are a bit crap with the jerking between gears. Only when you have given it a bit of extended revs though.

The old 1.8 block was far smoother

yes your right that's whats happening

My 1.8 vvti jerks when changing from 1st to 2nd.You need to press the accelerator down as you let the clutch up.The more revs you give it before the clutch fully bites the smoother it is.As a test try changing from 1st to 2nd without taking your foot off the gas.The engine will rev as you depress the clutch but if your quick enough,as you let the clutch back out the revs are high enough for it not to jerk.

Unfortunately theres nothing you can do to erradicate it completely.
I had a software upgrade applied to the engine a while back which kept the engine revs up for longer while you changed gear.It helped a bit but it still can do it.

I get it on my 2.0 cdti but have been told by vx it's quite common. common or not I share the frustration.
