Default How secure is the Vectra?

    Hi Guys,

I was wondering how secure the 2007 vectra is?
I've a 2.8 Elite and while it's not as obviously a target for the light fingered brigade as the VXR, i was wondering how secure and nickable the car is?

Should i really be investigating a tracker kind of setup or is the standard VX alarm and imboliser good enough?

    Cheers

Vx alarm is quiet as hell. One quick remedy is to disconnect it, this will make the horn kick in in stead.

But arnt most cars these days with immobilisers only nickable, when youve got the keys?
If thats so.... Maybe you should be asking...

How Secure are my car keys?

The security of any modern car has to be compared to it's desirability to the low life scum who mighty steal it.
As it's your pride and joy, I'm sorry to say that the big boys aren't interested -they want Mercs and Porsches, not VX's. Our kind of car is of interest to the crooks who might want a car for committing crimes, the joy riders, or the junkies who might think there's something in the glove box worth their next fix.
The first two you can combat by keeping your keys safe, as they won't be able to start the car without. The last one is just a matter of parking carefully and being lucky, I'm afraid.

we have had two cars taken off our drive one range rover vogue and the other mercedes e class

range rover they got the key for off the table in the kitchen by fishing it so now the keys are locked up in a little locker away from eyes and keys kept out of sight was tracked down to spain had been stolen to order but insurance had paid out so didnt bother with it

the mercedes was harder as the keys were locked up but did exactly as what has been said low loader parked up at side and lifted it on to back of lorry and was off took less than 5 minutes and was gone still never found it

the alarm system on the vectra is very good only thing wrong is were the speaker is mounted in the passenger side rear quarter in the boot but this can be dissconnected and the horn MIGHT take over somework some dont but a tracker is always a worth while investment im waiting to have mine fitted to the vectra
