My Drive in a Vauxhall powered Lotus single seater

As part of my xmas present last year I had a driving experience day which I had booked at a test circuit near Leicester this Wednesday. Some very nice cars were at my disposal to use for the day and I had an amazing time.

My favourite, the Lotus single seater was an ex race series car of some kind, powered by a 2.0 16v red top, they reckoned on 170bhp in a car with absolutely no weight giving it a 0-60 of around 3 seconds and awsome handling due to it's downforce. I've done plenty of track days but can honestly say that the car was beyond my capabilities and I didn't push the car to what it is capable of around the bends, but hell it throws you back in every gear so much that you can't move your head. In fact there were 2 straights where the speed was so great that the wind was lifting my helmet.

Some of the other cars were a great drive too, but the Porsche GT3 RS was definately the easiest to drive fast around the track with it's 415bhp in a lightwight track version of the 911.

The really funny thing is that I think i've found my next car (don't laugh), as I also drove the new shape Focus RS & ST which were a nice drive and quite modern, but the ST can be bought for as little as £8.5k on AutoTrader and still has 225bhp mappable to 275bhp

Cracking cars there, sounds like you had a great day.

A mate of mine has got the Focus ST - a great drivers car but think carefully if you do lots of miles or carry rear seat passengers, the noise in the back of the cabin is unbelievable!
