Default Quick HELP! - Its All Gone BLANK

    Hi all,

Can anyone offer some quick help? Here's the problem.

Currently 540miles from home and I've encountered a problem. Car has been fine all day with no probs then I make a quick stop at the shop, turn engine off and return literaly 2min later. Get back in car turn engine on and suddenly! I've got no temp gauge, no rev counter, no speedo, no fuel gauge, no oddometer readings etc.. Backlights to dash are on okay with lights and no engine management light on. Car started fine as it usually does and still drove like it usually does. I pulled in along the road and tuned engine off again. Turned key on and this time I notice there is a beep and the sole light I get is the amber engine light (bottom right of clocks), car will go on to starting fine and driving fine.

Done a quick check of fuses but all seemed okay, could do with knowing which one if any are cause of problem tho. As I'm away from home I,ve got no manuals only my USB Mobile Broadband, hence I'm on here looking for a quick fix? Don't fancy the 540miles without normal dash, speedo etc.

    Yip that done the trick.

I have already been looking at the fuses etc for nearly 2 hours before I came on here. So thankyou very much, much appreciated.

    NEXT PROBLEM!!

Now I've disconnected the battery and connected again the radio just says 'SAFE' how do I put in the code etc? Normaly I would look up the manual but i aint got it with me.

    It's the VDO 2005.

While the battery is disconnected unplug the ABS plug and make sure its clean. Mine dd this and a squirt of wd sorted it. Its ether a CIM problem, a fuse or dirty/wet ABS plug, all are quite common on early pre facelifts. HTH

ABS unit is the thing with all the pipes coming out of it. The plug is the huge thing on top.
