    Default Auxilliary belt tensioner......2.2 DTI

Heard a bang on start-up coupla nites ago and found that the aux. belt had come off. After having it towed to a garage the damper strut thingie was replaced, circa 120 quid for the part, and a new belt.

It's fine now apart from a very noisy idle. Sounds like it's a bearing or a drumming sound, but it disapears off idle speed.

I'm wondering if they failed to bleed the strut before fitting, would that cause this noise? Or maybe just something fouling.....

Before I let them have it back, any ideas please?

I had the usual hole in intercooler hose fault a week or so ago, and diagnosed and fixed it myself thanks to all the great info on here. Thank You all.
Shame on Vauxhall for refusing to sell just the offending part, you have to buy the whole assembly, 85 quid

After a proper chat with the garage, turns out the part replaced was the damper pulley after all.....the part which so many report failing.
But that noise is still the same. It sounds just as you describe too. It's definitely only came on from when the pulley and new belt was fitted, all was quiet when it was running with the broken pulley........

    Anyone?
