    hiya, my mate has one,
they arn't really all that bad tbh, pobibly the same power of a 1.4 clio upto about 80mph ive driver both and with all weight etc put aside theres not much in it!
as for fuel, its a big car on a petrol..
you get about 70miles to £10 behaving yourself on the motorway, cant really say much more as ive not had alot of experiance but just enough to give my input.
if i was you i would get a diesel.

I've got one and I really like it. Yes it is underpowered when it's fully loaded but I do 80% of my miles on my own. I do pretty high mileage and the 1.8 is fairly economical really. I was sceptical to begin with, but I'm on my second one now so that must say something. Only way to see if one's for you though is to go and drive one!

Done a 1000+ mile round trip from Aberdeen to Silverstone in mine, got 47mpg.

As to underpowered well, possibly but once you hit 3K on the rev counter it does start moving!

Iv just sold my Y reg 1.8 SRi 130 today and that was horrid on fuel 22mpg = 300mile tank of fuel, but it was also using 1 litre of oil every 300mile so something was wrong me thinks. The only real miles i do is from going to Brum Leeds and Sheff from mcr to Nightclubs (i'm a promoter) and picking Dj's up from airports.
Was looking at a diesel but they have so many problems like limp home mode, turbo's going etc etc cant really have a breakdown while picking a Dj up.

Its a good all round car. Will sit at motorway speeds all day, and yes it needs a bit of winding up for overtaking on A and B roads but as a previous poster said once you hit 3000rpm its pretty quick. Yes its not got the power of the diesels, but you will get a good car for a few grand cheaper than the equivalent diesel. Last reset my computer 1800 miles ago, and since then its averaged 42.2mpg.

Not underpowered at all. It just suffers from being the smallest engine in the range. But! 122bhp is quite respectable.

Years ago, a Cavalier Sri 130 was a car to be in! It would actually go well over 130mph indicated on the speedo! So being just 8bhp off is quite respectable!!

It's also a damn reliable engine if looked after!!

Anything between 32 and 43 mpg in my ownership
