    confused tyre pressures on 225/55 r16 vec 19cdti?

    does anyone have this size tyre fitted? know their not factory fitted issue but mine have them on 4 corners and cant find out correct pressures,any ideas?

    Yep, they are not a VX recommended tyre size, but I would imagine that the tyre pressures would be the same as for 215/55/16 shown in the table below for Z19DTH engine (Click on attachment):-

    The slightly larger width is minimal and the side profile is the same as the standard 215 and 205 width tyres.

    Not strictly true. The side profile is 55% of the width.

    rule of thumb for pressure is rim size 16'' x 2 +2lb....

    i would be running 34lb in them if it were my car...

    Yes you're right. The net result of using the wider tyre with the same side profile is to increase the sidewall height by 5.5mm. I assume that would not be a problem, although wider tyres would normally have a decrease in sidewall height.

    For example:

    Replacing 215/50/17 (Vectra 'C' standard 17" tyre) with 225/45/17 (VX-recommended alternative tyre size for Vectra 'C' with 17" wheels) reduces the sidewall height by 5mm from 112.5mm to 107.5mm
