Default Key fob bust....can I fix it??

Went to get in the car today and the key fell off the keyring. When I've looked the chrome section that attaches to the keyring looks like it has sheared. Just going to use the spare as my main key and re attach using superglue. I think it is with the extra weight of having my door keys on the ring. How much is a new key or do people think I might be able to take this apart and fix it??

Soldering....circuit boards...easy to screw things up. I would derfinitely wreck it I think if I tried!! Thanks though Dave!!

Incidentally if I did have a go what happens if you leave the battery out for any length of time??

Wait there...on reading a bit more and actually taking it in the blade is held in with a split pin. I can buy a new fob off ebay but have to fit my blade and program it. Can i tap out this split pin in my broken key without dismantling the fob and then transfer the blade to the new fob again keeping intact?? Also is it easy to program the remote and could I do that??

I paid just over 50 quid for a new flip key from vaux. I haven't had it programed yet.

Don't bother with Ebay keys. I bought one, it wouldn't program to car. And it was brand new.

There shouldn't be any soldering involved. Just swap the internals from your fob to the replacement one and glue it back together. Likewise with the keyblade. Basically all you want is a replacement outer fob shell.

That sounds ideal if it was definitely that easy. Once the fob is separated do the internals just lift out though?? I would hate to trash the key altogether and then have to fork our big bucks for a replacement. That would go down like a cup of cold sick with Mrs Marky!!!
