Default CDTI 150 problem when cold

I've got a 07 1.9 cdti vectra and have noticed the car will not rev over 4000rpm when first started in the morning, depending on how cold it is the car will start reving as normal in 1-5 mins. Have also noticed the car seems to have surges of power lately instead of just a constant boost. Any help with these problems would be appreciated.

Reving your engine over 2500rpm when it's cold is not really recommended.

i dont see its as a problem i think it is normal ....although you will turn it into a problem if you keep reving it to 4000rpm when its cold never mind when its hot !

dosnt sound like a problem though

And the cdti red lines at 5000, why would you want to rev over 4000 from cold. Remind me not to buy a used car from you.

Thanks for the replies, I had thought this may be normal to protect the engine when cold but thought i'd ask for everyone's thoughts first. As for those who think I over rev my car, the only reason I noticed it is that I have to cross 2 lanes of traffic when leaving work so it was either rev the car out or get hit by a lorry!

Perfectly normal until engine is up to temp.

But defiantely let your engine warm up before stretching its legs. Just like before you go the Gym, you wouldnt jump straight in without doing a warm up, as you would pull your muscles.

Same for a car engine though a lot more expensive, but granted sometimes you do find yourself in a situation like that with no choice.

As for your lack of boost, try cleaning the EGR, and also the boost sensor
