    Default towbars

anyone know if theres any difference between towbars for the estate and the hatch/saloon. places selling them seem to list estates and hatch/saloons differently. seen some towbars on fleabay but they've come off hatchs and i was wondering if there was any problems with fitting them to an estate?
and what about piggy backing into the rear light cluster or do i get a plug and play electric set?
    cheers folks

Hatch and estate tow bars are different, as for "piggy backing" the wiring into the rear clusters its not ideal, spend the bit extra on a dedicated wiring loom for your car.

Are you after a fixed or detachable one? Only reason I ask is that i'm after a detachable one for my facelift estate but found a genuine fixed one on car parts connexion (check google for website) for about £50 the other day if it's still there may be worth a look you'll have to ask elsewhere on here to confirm part number.

I piggy backed the wiring for my towbar using scotchlok connectors - it's pretty straightforward providing you can identify the correct wire! You cant just connect the socket direct to the wires thought - it has to pass through some special magic box to overcome the canbus bulb fault warnings. I got one supplied with my towbar for much less than the plug and play connector.

Where is a good place to buy a retractable or removable tow bar kit for my GSi? Any good deals to be had at the moment? I don't want to spoil the look of the car but would like to be able to tow.

    Any help appreciated!
