    Default Air Box question

Have just done the air box mod on my 1.9cdti sri, and when cleaning out the bottom of the airbox, noticed a small hole size of a 10p piece in the bottom near to the air intlet pipe, on looking outside the box noticed a small rubber pipe that looked like it should be in this hole! Anyone know what its for and is it important that i put it back! I have had the car for 5 weeks now before looking at this mod and i guess that this pipe has been out all this time, not noticed any problems with it out!

I have a 2.2DTi so not identical airbox, but on mine there also is a rubber pipe connected to a hole in the bottom of the box. Ill guess as long as the hole in yours is at the bottom, it is drainage for water, and the rubber pipe is for leading the water outside the compartment. Pretty sure you should put it on

Its a breather pipe, it doesn't cause any problems with it disconnected - so don't worry.

I have had mine disconnected for months now and its been fine.

Mine (1.9CDTi) is the same. It doesn't matter too much whether it's connected or not, as long as the hole is clear. All the pipe does is ensure any water that gets in the airbox drains away and runs out below rather than running onto and then down the inner wing. So although it works either way, it's obviously better if the pipe is connected.
