What year is the car, can you carry out a paper clip test to see if there are any fault codes stored?
Could be MAF, could be temp 2 sensor, could be lambda sensor.

Well I've just replaced the mass air flow sensor on my golf v5 , and it's like a different car.
No uneven idle anymore , with smooth power delivery , and goes alot better as well.
If you think about it , the maf sensor is the first point where the ecu and management system electronically controls the running of your car , so if there is the slightest problem there , it will magnify further along the lines , overfuelling and so on.
So I'd say change it , you have nothing to lose , only make things better hopefully.

My car is 53 plate.. It is still under warranty (via nissan dealrship) so if the mass air flow sensr is faulty will it store a fault code ??

its when you put a paper clip in the dia port and the dash flashes a number of times and gives you the number of the fault

works a treat on the ol redtop engines
