    Default Stone chips!!!!!

Anyone recommend a good way to mask/remove stone chips from the front bumper/ side sills? Is it a professional job? or are there products out there available to buy for the job?

    Thanks

You could try touch up paint. But it is very difficult to get it to look correct. It is a bit of an improvement though. Halfords do some colours. But a VX dealer is the best as the paint is more "accurate" in colour.

Cheers Ed, I thought of using touch up paint, do Vx do exact colours? Mine is Ultra Blue, not sure if they still do cars in that colour, now the Vectras are not in production, have you used one?

I have there are Three different variations of Star Silver ( colour of my motor) so they need to know the "age" of the car to get the correct match. You most probably will need to order it, as this nanny state of ours, the VX dealer needs a licence to store solvents ( that are in the paint) so as my dealer they order it in for you. I found it to be a very good match. Bit of a fiddly game putting it on though. I used a smaller artist brush, rather than the one in the paint. Don,t expect the job to be perfect, unless you are very good with it or very lucky. Some of my stone chip repairs are difficult to see now, some are still obvious. But an improvment though.

Thanks mate, how much for the paint, is it them little stick affairs you can get from Halfords etc? Anything will look better than the white plastic showing where the chips are!

I got the colour code for my car, and bought a tin of custom made paint from halfords, perfect match and cost £10, then i sprayed some into the lid, and used a tooth pick to dab the paint from the lid onto my bonnet, and anywhere else i fancied, worked a treat

A lot of paint for a tenner, was it good stuff? What do you need to provide Halfords with for them to mix the exact colour mate? VIN number/colour code?

Just the colour code for the car mate, it is costly but with my colour i was a bit dubious getting it...... i cant fault them at all for the match , also used it on the V at the front , and to hide some other small chips
