    Default New gearbox and clutch

My 2.2direct is 2.5 years old and I noticed a noise coming from 1st and 2nd gear when accelerating. Into dealers yesterday and have been told I need a new gearbox (under warranty) and a new clutch (£400 parts only) as its slipping.

The car has only covered 27000 miles and Im pretty annoyed that I,m having to pay for a new clutch as its classed as wear and tear. Would the faulty gearbox have caused the clutch to burn out and should I fight vauxhall or just bend over and take it from the stealers once again?

Hopefully one of you learned people can help me out!

i would try it on with the dealers as 27k is not a lot on a clutch tbh.

I tried to put my point across but the guy was very unhelpful and just said that it could only be caused by my driving style. Bulls**t. Ive had 7 vauxhalls and never had to replace a clutch.

Should I try phoning vauxhall direct?

New gearbox and clutch fitted. Cost £252 for clutch. Strange considering they told me it would be £401. Do the stealers actually know how much parts cost or just guestimate.

The clutch does not seem any different to me. I tried pulling away in first by lifting the clutch and no gas. It moved off itself. Should this happen?

Yeah that should happen mate, if it did'nt pull away using that method before then your clutch did need doing lol.

If it was me i would have asked to see the clutch when the gearbox was dropped and i would have decided wether it needed done, BUT on the other hand you could look at it as preventative maintenance at least you dont have a clutch to worry about now.
