confused Radiator drain plug - 1/4 turn ?

Hi - this should be very obvious I know. But the plug on my 55 reg 2.2 petrol seems to turn through 90 degrees, but no coolant is coming out of the `spout'.

Is it 1/4 turn, and/or does it pull out ? Or just unscrew ?

Plug is about 13-15 mm diameter, with a raised `rib' across the centre of it.

Don't want to wreck the rad !

    Thanks

Looking at the car its down the LHS, you have to twist it 1/4 turn anti clock wise and pull it out

Well - my plug turned fairly easily through 1/4 turn, but despite a reasonable yank with a pair of pliers, refused to pull out. Is there an `O' ring somewhere ? Anyhow gave up and popped the lower hose from the radiator, which came off quite easily. (I used a ground down pair of cheapo water pump pliers from B+Q for the spring type hose clip)
Thanks anyway. (and much prefer the old Omega type drain plug)
