Default rev counter/speedo/temp gauge/fuel gauge stopped working

As above they were all working fine then both rev counter & speedo dropped to zero, then went back to reading correct for about 30 secs then stopped completely, all other electrics still worked ok, i drove to the services on the M60 switched of the motor restarted it and hey presto all working ok, did a further 140 miles no problems, any ideas please?

ps. the idicators worked ok but not the lights in the instrument cluster.
    cheers, keith

    sorted,
I spoke to a auto lecky and he said to remove and clean fuse 17 from the fuse block at the side of the glove box and also remove the block connector on the abs system situated on the n/s inner wing for 5/10 mins {its by the battery}, done it and all seems well. keith

    Smile

this has JUST happened to me too.

RAC disconnected battery for 10 mins and all came back ok. Sunroof didn't work at all for a while but thats come back on its own now! Also windows would only go down in stages - but thats back!!!!

RAC said they checked all fuses and if the battery fix did not work, then press the speedo ect slightly (could be loose connection) - or to remove a fuse (don't know which one - could be 17 as above) leave out for 3 mins and plug it back in.

    Wierd !!!

Could also be a sign of a dodgy CIM.

I'd guess I'd have to wait for it to happen again before I go to the dealer (its under warranty) with regards to dodgy CIM???

Must be the week for this. Driving to work this morning in my Siggy 2.2 Direct, I suddenly get an illuminated symbol of a steering wheel and three dashes on the multi-display, speedo drops to nothing, temp and fuel gauges too, rev counter still working. Then alternator warning light becomes lit, ABS and traction control light on too. I stop, restart the engine and it clears. 2nd helping a bit further down the road, recovered on its own but TC light still on.

On the way home, I got the same symptoms, then wildly fluctuating working/not working dials, including rev counter this time, then car/spanner symbol and ABS and TC lights on. Drove the few miles home, plugged on U480 reader, no codes shown even though spanner light on.

I shall see about this fuse 17 trick, but maybe a call into my friendly garage with Tech 2 would make sense.
