    Default 24.8 MPG Insignia 2.0T 4x4 ??????

As the title says, that is all I am getting on the new car.

Before this I had a 1.8 SRI vectra and that was doing 37-39 and even better on a run so why the big difference?

Would turning off the climate control and sat nav make any difference. I don't drive it hard but even driving like a vicar doesn't seem to make any difference.

4x4 is gonna make a big difference too.

My brother changed from a TDi Passat to a A4 TDi Quattro and the mpg difference was quite large - plus the fact you have a 2.0T in a heavy car.

How many miles has your car got..? As the more its run in the better it will be, quite a bit so too.

3000 miles on the clock now. We have also got a corsa VXR which obviously has the 1.6 Turbo engine and that drinks petrol like it's going out of fashion but I just hoped for a little better.

Also the Insignia isn't in 4x4 mode unless the car detects the front wheels are spinning so it just drives like a vectra in normal driving.

Just can't understand why it is such a big drop in MPG from an 1.8 to a 2.0. Also have the added advantage of a 6th gear so that should help.

Really need to take it on a good run and then see what the figures are.

Quite a few users are moaning about the fuel consumption on various Insignia's, a few users over on VODC forums are only getting around 26mpg with same model as you. A couple have been back to the dealers and have been checked out but they said there was nothing wrong.

I have the standard 1.8vvt with the Plus Pack, and the most I've had show on the computer Average mpg was 31.2.

Working it out by filling and nearly emptying the tank, is currently a fraction under 30mpg. I've not done any long motorway runs as yet, so it may improve once it loosens up.

Usually get around 430 miles per tankful, with about 25 miles range left showing on computer.

This is what happens when you put a relitively small engine in a big car..........the emissions are kept down to keep Gordon Brown happy but the end result is poor fuel economy.

Doesn't that defeat the object. Lower emissions but a car that can't pass a petrol station without panicing that it might not reach the next one.

Blimey 24.8mpg! I'm getting that out of mine (2.8t) and I've been less than frugal. I've just been out on and 'economy' run with wife and kids and I'm utterly thrilled at returning 32mpg..

The air con uses quiet a bit but TBH if it's as warm as it is here you need it. What kind of book figures are quoted for yours out of interest??

They should get better after a few thousand miles I'm told but even then...
