    Default V-Grille removal

Thinking of colour coding my V-grille this week. just a couple of questions really

    1. Are they easy to remove without breaking anything. Can anyone give me tips.

    2. How do I remove the griffin badge, as dont want that colour coded?

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

Easiest way is to remove the bumper, then loosen the catches on the back, along the V

The badge comes out easier once you remove the V, if your down GU14 way, gimme a shout i can help

My colour is ultra blue. TBH honest spraying is easy. Key the chrome effect with some 800 grit wed/dry paper. Spray with some primer, rub primer down with 1200 grit wet/dry paper then spray 3 coats of paint, leave to dry, rub down again with 1200 paper and then spray the lacquer on, you'll need 3-5 coats of the lacquer. To start with, just spray the lacquer on to get some coats, leave to dry, gently rub down again with 1200 then when your ready to do the final coat, give a good amount of lacquer, spray evenly and you wont get runs, but it needs to look wet for the perfect finish.

you can get a paint/lacquer set from the dealers for about £12 but the lacquers crap IMO get some DU-POL from ebay or halfords. HTH
