3.0 cdti black smoke on acceleration

I have a problem with clouds of black smoke under acceleration. There doesn't seem to be any loss of power. Car is 2003 vectra C auto estate, 98k miles. 3k miles ago car was serviced by dealer, cam belt and rollers changed as well as brake fluid/gear oil. I have tried redex diesel in the fuel but no improvement. Could this be injectors, EGR, split intercooler hose?

Try cleaning the EGR valve mate. That might sort your problems out a bit.

However, remember that you are driving a diesel and they do like to let other road users know this by kicking out a lump of soot every now and again lol

Thanks. Is the EGR hard to get at on the v6?
I had some black smoke 30k before but nowhere near as bad and a software update seemed to improve it though I can't be sure. Also oil level light came on after 2 hours on motorway 1k after last service. Checked level and it was a little above max. Restarted after 15 mins and light has remained off ever since.

Thanks, Sean. Don't know the answer to that. At last service dealer replaced 3 filter elements, which I assume are diesel, oil and air, and 1 particle filter but that may be pollen filter?

Ignore that last statement of mine got it wrong....still not sure which models have the DPF's but apparently mine doesn't have one.

The DPF is not as simple to change as an oil filter, apparently it's quite expensive

As far as I remember only the Euro 4 facelifts run DPf's. The earlier Euro 3's do not.
