i like the styling of the new focus and the focus coupe but shame they have tio use some one elses engines ie volvo 2.5 lump for there fast hatches, what happend to good old cossie
I like the look of it, but it's not really a new incarnation of the Capri, or even a fitting tribute to it. It's just an old but revered name being put on a Focus coupe, which I think cheapens it a bit.
i agree, how can they call it the new capri when its a focus, and it looks cack, lol
i dont think the scirocco has anything to worry about
Agreed the name is wrong but it looks much better than that horrible thing VX have stuck the Astra badge on, you can bet it will handle a lot better than the VX too. I would have to see one in the flesh as we all know what auto express are like!
the new astra is a nice lookin car its defo aimed at teh focus market with the styling and the rumors are the vxr will be 4x4
Being a former Capri multi owner I'd better have a say on this, out of the six I owned this one was probably my favorite until it effectively got written off, I say effectively because someone joined a dual carriageway in front of me in lane two at about 6 mph and then made up a story of lies to ensure the insurance companies went knock for knock.
Anyway back to the new one, it's nothing like a traditional Capri in shape, and I reckon that on it's own will make it sell, Ford has messed around with the Probe and the Cougar in the past, both are/were buckets imo, this time it's an old name on a new gen car, I saw a Sirocco a few days ago and thought how far away from the original it was, the Corrado was a good step up at the time in keeping with the 2 former Sirocco's, but the latest one is a whole new idea with an old name, also how would Ford blend something 2009 Capri in with the current styling of the range, I think they've been bold and I think they will get the reward on that.
I had a black Y reg ('82) 2.0S and loved it to bits. Possibly the most fun* I've ever had in a car, especially in the wet! The thing was bomb proof, too; the cambelt snapped once, did no damage to the valves and only took 15 minutes to replace at the cost of a few quid.
I do hope they don't use the Capri name on the Focus Coupé, it deserves to go on a deserving successor.
*If you find thinking "OMG, we're all going to die!" with every corner to be fun.
it dont look a bit like my capri calypso that i had in 1985 y reg a, it was half charcoal and half silver, a good looking car for the time but slow as **** 1.6 engine. hope they've improved the speed and mpg a lot....
