    Question Do brake discs have wear indicators?

    If so, Where are they?

    Brake discs DONT but brake pads DO !!!!!!! Small wire coming from centre of brake pad !!HTH

    Back in a V6 !!!!!!!!!!!! And lovin it !!!

    HO HO HO!!!! At least you didn't say it's printed on the airbag!!!

    How do we know when to replace them is what I'm getting at!!

    vented discs sometimes have a little step on the outside edge which gives a flat point on the edge when its worn down quite badly. hard to explain i will try to get a pic to show you.

    what he means is the disc wears and gets thinner and thinner. But a lip forms around the outside edge of the disc. a way to tell is to run yer finger nail from the centre to the outside. U will feel a lip on the outer edge. the bigger the lip the more worn it is.

    I read somewhere that its best to change the discs every third pad change as a general rule

    not all pads have wear indicators...
    you may find that even if it was standard on the car, that whoever last replaced them didn't have the ones with indicators fitted etc etc.
    as for changing discs - you will be able to tell when they are on the way out.
    you just know... it's strange but you just feel they're going.
    one thing you can do is each time you get your pads changed, just get the mechanic to check your discs, they will be able to estimate how long they will last.

    dunno about brake discs but dont vectras have a front brake pad wear warning indicator light on the dash??
