    Default dtuk box

been looking on dtuk's website re the dtuk green box. it mentions that this box is mainly for economy where as the red box is for max power. now they advertising the green box on e bay suggesting huge power increases. anyone have this box and does it give power or economy? dtuk seem to be making 2 different claims regarding one product. a little confusing i think.

i have also seen caterman box's mentioned a bit on here.... where do you get them from

    cheers

I have a green box and made 184bhp and near 280 torques on the RR a couple of weeks ago. And apart from that, its a standard 150 cdti.

Be warned though, at the RR I did win the 'black smoke filled the garage' award!

iv got the green dtuk box on my vec 150 and the power increase is very noticable as for gains in fuel econemy i can't say that i have noticed any difference but that could be due to individual driving styles

caterman boxes were originally a cheap tuning box from e-bayin Germany, given the name as the member called "Caterman" was the first to buy one.

I had several tuning boxes & swore by them at the time, however the amount of smoke I was kicking out eventually (after 70,000 miles) convinced me to go back to a standard setup.

"Black smoke" doesn't do things like injectors,EGR valves and turbos a lot of good. Not to mention the atmosphere and peoples lungs.LOL

Lol my dti was on the r/r that day too and i couldn't believe how little smoke it had, 141 bhp too on a 2.2DTi with a steinbauer tuning box (not fully turned up). I recommend that box quite strongly as they do one for the cdti too, it's not cheap but it works great

What some don't realise is that if you go even a bit too 'large' on the settings you will still get 'black smoke' even at part throttle openings, which is what really kills the EGR valve in particular.'Bore wash' and other similar bad things are also not unknown.

Recently I also posted about a Merc '220' owner who had to have is remap removed so that it would pass the MOT!

Whereabouts are they please? Didn't realise they were in the North-East, but that makes them handy for me.
