    Default Knocking from car?

    iv'e got a vectra 2.0dti
and the passed couple of days ive been getting knocking it sounds like it from the back, so the steps i took where clearing the car out 100% to insure there was nothing rattling, checked the springs there fine no snaps, and ive pushed down on all corners as hard as i can and it dosent cause the problem, it only happens when i go over bumps in the road, its quiet a solid knock and u can feel it on the pedels, it also seems to have got worse with time

I had a very simular problem a few weeks ago which turned out to be the trailing arms which have now been replaced. and after a check they still seem fine.

    any ideas?

    thanks

Hi, I have exactly the same problem with my signum and was going to post a thread myself, its a very solid thud when going over bumps in the road, again a visual inspection by myself didn't show anything obvious, springs seemed to be ok, hope we get some advise.

sounds like the common problem of anti roll bar bushes, easy to change and about £3 a corner, genuine part! think there is a how to on fitting

I took the rear wheels off today for a look to see if there was something obvious, nothing looked worn and nothing felt loose, I refitted the wheels and lowered the car onto the ground, and gave the wheels a good shake, there was a definite play when shaking the wheels and I could hear the knocking sound, when I tried twisting the wheels when the car was in the air there was no play, however on the ground with vigorous shaking it was definitely there, any ideas, I don't think it was anti roll bar associated.

That sounds like the suspension arms mate. I think it's the upper ones that usually go. HTH's
