Default Can a s/s exhaust sound good on a diesel?

As the title says really. One of the reasons for selling the car and buying something petrol is get back the noisey exhaust (lol sad i know) but can a s/s system on my cdti 150 sound just as good?

If so what would be best the bore size for the system? I would prob look and removing both cats as well to make it breath better?

think it would depend on exhaust and engine, as to the sound it will create, obviously differet engines kick out diffrent amounts of exhaust gases at different pressures and the exhaust note will not only vary with this but with what box you have on, bore, baffels if any...... i have heard them sounding good on diesels and some not so good.

im sure bigrich has a s/s vectra vxr exhaust on his diesel, think there a vid on youtube some where and that sounds alright.

Unfortunatley, you will never get any decent noise from an exhaust on a diesel. I have seen an Astra 1.9 CDTi 150 with a Milltek full system and although it does have a little bit of a deeper groan, unless you knew what to listen for, you would not know it's not standard.

Mine is the opposite of what you say - it sounds awesome, I have had many comments asking me if I am sure its a diesel !!!!

Depends on the exhaust mate, but yes, you can have one that sounds good on a diesel.

Mine is quiet when tootling along, but sounds awesome when booting it, I was very surprised indeed and love it

Parapaul got a wonderful sound out of the diesel he had before he got his 2.8T, and that was with a custom-built stainless-steel jobbie IIRC.
