Default A new mod, practical this time!

On Wednesday evening I decided to fit a genuine Vauxhall detachable towbar to the Signum. We have a towbar on our Freelander 2 but it's sods law that I need a towbar when Mrs Mav is out or at work.

So after having the towbar delivered to my house the work began!

Step one, start with one dirty Signum!

    Them empty the boot.

Undo the bolts holind down the carpet.

The strip it! Bumper, lights, boot interior, just makes it easier to work with everything removed.

Then take a handy 7 year old daughter to heat up the sound proofing ready for it to be removed.

Locate the dimples in the floor and drill them out 22mm, I also painted the holes black to ensure the bare metal does not corrode.

The bold up the towbar using 4 bolts.

Drill a 40mm hole in the back panel where indicated and feed the electrics through, I have both the 12N and 12S electrics.

Feed the loom up to the fuse board, plug in the module and the loom, then for the 12S electrics, I had to add a couple of wires to the main 12N plug and then simply add the fuse adaptor into the switched live stated.

Then put it all back together again, the end result, you can't see it which is the idea!

I am off to Marshall's tomorrow to have the electrics programmed with Tech 2.

All in all it took me just over 3 hours start to finish.

One good thing I noticed though, I knew that at some point in the past, the right hand side of the bumper had been painted, maybe a smart repair.

But all the panels in the rear were all original and no sign of panel repairs. So pleased at that.
