Default China 7" dvd/gps, stalk harness compatibility?

Looking at one of those chinese thingy's on eBay
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250376870459

My biggest concern is loosing the steering wheel control, although it says steering wheel control in the auction, Chinese buisnesses sometimes promise alot more than they can actually keep.
Is it possible to wire it to a stalk harness and actually use the volume and such?
Another thing, if I disconnect the radio from the TID, will it still show time and outside temp? and will It cause trouble later, if I wanna upgrade to CID?

I know this isn't a great headunit in anyway, but thought i'd give it a try.

I have also thought about getting a cheap chineese DVD to replace my CDR-2500, but the more I read about others having done this the more skeptical I get. I have tested one chineese no-name player already but when the temperature was below -5 C it completely freaked out so I sent it back!

This is what I have found out so far:
    - There is no standard interface for how steering wheel functions are arranged. Not even from the same car maker! Sometimes, and to some models, you can buy (expensive) adapter interfaces but they would only fit to a certain player which, with few exceptions, is some of the big japaneese brands. The remote mentioned here is probably a small unit that you attach to the steering wheel by straps. So the general answer to this question is: no.
Time and temp will still be on the display, but not the RDS or channel info.
Depending on whar car you have today you will also need a cage and frame to mount the unit. And sometimes a wire harness as well.

Hmmm... The thing i like about it is the Windows CE that controls the navigation (Got a Mio navi that I unlocked and modded heavily), also I managed to find a program that can extract the images from the dvdrom.bin (new interface).

So think I'm gonna give it a shot, With the unit in hand it's easier to see if theres a workaround to at least control the volume from the steering wheel.
Also with the cheap price, I can take it if it's a crappy unit.

Let us know whether you succeded or not. And how. But I think that the buttons are, in some way, connected to and read by the CAN-bus so it is more a matter of communicating and adapting to this bus to get this working. I think...

You've tried it? How fake it appeared to be. Just by checking the features from the website, the price is extremely a worthy of those features. I'm tempted too. Please advise with your idea
