    Unhappy 1.9 cdti 150 won't run at all

    Well my 1.9 won't run at all, its in the garage (not main dealers) and in theory nothing is wrong with it. It has had the latest Snap-On diagnostic computer, a Launch System and the latest Tech 2 plugged into it and there are no faults coming up and all sensors seem fine.

    They have tried:

    EGR valve stripped and cleaned
    Boost sensor cleaned
    Checked all pipes
    Checked engine timing
    Checked injector wiring
    Drained fuel tank and added fresh fuel
    Replaced fuel filter
    Checked there is a good flow of fuel from the intank pump to the filter head
    Removed sump pan to check crank trigger isn't broken up
    Removed ECU and checked all pins/connections are clean and ok
    Checked fuel pump - this was ok, but regulator wasn't - replaced regulator - now got 300 bar of fuel pressure


    If they squirt 'easy start' into the inlet she runs, other than that it fails to even try.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    They are currently trying to find out if the injectors are fired by 12v or 50v (some are apparently) as thats the only thing they can think of.

    The VX mechanic that brought the Tech 2 down genuinely said "well if that was in our workshop I seriously do not know what we would do next - it SHOULD run!"

    Anyone any ideas? They are willing to try anything!

    A bit more info if you could - when you crank it over on the starter, does it belch out plumes of black soot from the exhaust?

    What mileage has the engine done?

    I don't think it belches out black smoke but will ask.

    It's done just over 71k.

    I've just tried to edit/add to my post above with some possibilities, went to "save" as an edit but the 15 minute allowance had expired. SO i'll have type them all out again.

    Might be 2mrw now - sorry.

    the fuel pressure rail should be running at 1600bar i believe?

    looks like you have been through it with a tooth comb so excuse if you have already tried this, have you checked the leak off pipes, i had this trouble with my old 2.2 dti frontera, it just wouldn't start no matter what i did, turned out to be tiny splits in the ends of leak off pipes, common on vx, also possibly injector seals.

    VX man said 250 bar minimum, and that 300 bar was fine. Tech 2 seems to think it's fine too.

    Mate get the engine fuel pump checked.Have you rn it dry on fuel?
