    Default Still loss of power!!

Following on from my last thread about loss of power, car goes fine until i get to about 2500rpm or about 70mph on the motorway, had it put on tech2 and was told it needed an egr valve, had that replaced today but still got the same problem, also now i have another fault code that apparently means i need new glow plugs, they wouldn't cause this problem would they?? Don't know what else to do as everything else has been checked by a mechanic, vac pipes etc... Shes a 2002 2.2dti sri.
    Any help greatly appreciated
    Cheers

Check ALL!!! the pipes again. I had loss of power because one of the vacum pipes on the back of the turbo was loose.
Clean the boost sensor and the thing (lol) that sits on the EGR. Check the intercooler for any leaks.

Hi mate. if you having the same problem as i did then it may be a rip in the pipe which goes into the EGR valve and intercooler which is a rubber pipe check that it is a common fault

These pipes have all been checked mate, but thanks for the suggestion, will just have to leave it back in to the mechanics, forgot to say after the power dips when on the motorway or whatever, once you come off it and stop, then when you go to build up your speed again its really crap and sluggish, takes ages to build speed up and this isn't even at a high revs, don't have a clue

I suspect if you have checked all of the vacuum pipes then as some has already said the intercooler is most likely at fault. My car was going into limp mode at 2,500rpm , albeit mine is a 1.9CDTI but the principles are still the same and it was the intercooler that had burst - literally - and had buckled at the bottom along with being covered in soot.

hi mate, i sympathise with you totally i have a 2.2 dti, i have owned it since january and it's been a nightmare, i have had the thing read 4 times now with no real clues as to whats wrong, but here are some sugestions to be going on with.
1st have fault codes read, 2nd re-check all vacuum pipes very thoroughly, check thoroughly the intercooler pipes for splits even the slightest knick will cause your problem, clean egr and manifold (inlet) as they get sludged up, follow the thin white vac pipes to actuators (2 near radiator 1 near battery) pull off and see if the actuators are pulling a vacuum by putting your finger over the actuator outlet, you should feel a suction, look inside the car above the throttle pedal, you should see an electrical connection, make sure this is in good order and clean, make sure that all the connections to all the sensors under the bonnet are good and clean. i hope some of this is helpful.

Is it a difficult job to clean the inlet manifold? You probably have to take it off?

I bought my 3.0CDTi in january too and it's been a nightmare since. January is a cursed month to buy cars lol
