headlight misted up

I got my 6000k hids fitted at the weekend and all was fine,but today with all wet weather about i have noticed that one of my headlights has misted up.I opened the bonnet for a nosey and i noticed that the guy who fitted them has taken a chunk out of the rubbers protecting the bulbs to let the wires pass through.Does anyone have any ideas how i can prevent the lights misting up in future?

Take the units out and dry them with a hairdryer then once dry silicon the wires where the rubber is cut out to seal it.... Then it should be watertight again mate

I have removed the rubber covers from the back of the lights to let a bit of air in to see if that helps,if it clears itself do you think it would be safe to leave the covers off permanently?

I thought they had solid covers on the headlights and rubber cover on the motor. Oh well you should be ok leaving them off but inevitably it wont get rid of the moisture permanantly. Everytime your lights heat up the moisture will dissapear. If you want rid you need to dry them out and repalce the seal

I had this problem with one of my headlamp units when the rubber cover was not fitted snugly. Hugley misted up. I parked the car - took the rubber cover off - started the engine - switched on the headlamps fully. The 'heat' from the lamps dried out the air in the lamp - took 3 hours of engine idling over. May have cost about £3 in petrol but solved the problem as I could not get a hairdrier near enough to the back of the lamp unit and you have to remove half the car to get the lamp unit out.

thank`s m8,i took the rubber cap off and i have kept it off and it has cleared up,all except the part of the light where the indicator is,is there a cover that i can remove to clear this part of the light?

get yourself a little packet of silica gel - similar to the ones you get in new boxed items - remove the cover after you park her up for her overnight rest, and place it inside the light the put the cover back in place - this will absorb the moisture overnight = remember to remove the following morning before driving off because they look really funny flopping around at the bottom of your headlights as you drive round corners !

and then remember to ensure the seal is water tight otherwise the moisture will return
