    Default servicing help please

ok so my vec is due for its 3rd service at the end of this month, so far i've had it serviced at the dealer i bought it from(first owner), but is it really worth going to the dealers again? is it really going to be worth that much more with a full dealer service history? its a 1.9cdti exclusiv on a 06 plate....not really impressed with the dealers servicing and i can get a better more comprehensive service done for a lot less money....i'm also looking at trading it in the next few months....so will i get that much less for it by having it serviced somewhere else?

Depends on if the car is under warranty
My personal choice is to keep to the dealership until the warranty expires
After that I shop around independents and cut the service interval intervals in half

As for full VX history, it is only helpful when the car has low mileage
If the car is at or more than 60K miles (20K miles per year) it makes little diffence

I don't get heehaw for miy VX history, as I dispose of them at 5 years old / 120K miles
    I'm happy to get £1200

    thanks for the reply

it's now 2 days out of warranty and it's done 45k, that's why i asked, because to me it's borderline as to wether or not it would make much of a difference, plus i can get all service parts (oe equivelent) at cost and get it serviced for free, at a garage and all service booked stamped etc....however, i am thinking of trading it in soon, i just don't want the dealer to turn round and say i would have got say £500 more if it had full vx service history..

Looks like a mod thought it was to do with service parts rather than documents!

Anyway, you won't get £500 between a VX service stamp and indie stamp, more like £50

My job is Car servicing and to be honest the problem with people believing that main dealers are better is a load of rubbish. people think that when they go main dealers they get genuine parts replaced but they don't, they get the exact same parts as i do from unipart or c.e.s or any part distrubutor. alot lot of people are using people like me now as i'm nearly half price than the main dealers.

I agree - independent all the way. You wont get £10 difference IMO. As long as you have book stamped and parts receipt it wont make any odds. Local garage do a MUCH better job than local stealers in my experience. They care about repeat business and doing a good job.
