Default Limp mode or dead mode

I pulled onto the works car park this morning and the car died. driving down a very slight slope. I have just over the red in fuel but it was like the car had ran out. It also lost power steering which I am guessing is engine related. Never done it before. Any ideas?
    I have an 08 petrol 1.8i

Fuel starvation mate, i would never let it run below QTR tank,

May take a bit to get it started again,

Someone will prob correct me or explain better

Its a mil or 2 above red. Surely it should make it into the red before it runs out? Not just cut out mid drive

But if your going down a slope, regardless of slight it is, all the fuel may shift to the front of the tank, i am just guessing here, but has been known to happen .

Usually get about 30-35 miles. Was driving around a shopping centre the other day up and down the mutistorey ramps which are a lot steeper with it flashing at me. Any ideas if the fuel line is front/back/right at the bottom?

Wouldnt normally let it run that low but had a funeral and completely slipped my mind

Its along the RHS mate, if you look under the drivers side rear door, you will see the fuel filter there ,

where does it leave the fuel tank? Just thinking cause if its at the front and all the fuel leans forward it wouldnt be that. Is it also possible to trap air ie when turning a corner and the fuel swills ie all fuel leans to the right at the same point the fuel pump draws for fuel
