thats awful TT hope it gets sorted. I used to work for Corus and they made thousands redundant, all because the share price was low. They hadnt traded in profit since merged with the dutch firm (hoogevens). i was amazed to find out that corus operated as almost two different parts. They nearly got a profit one year when they were about to sell the aluminium section, but then at the last minute the dutch side vetoed it. Cost millions in compensation as parts of the deal were already signed.

seems that big firms loose perspective of who is doing what and always end up with replication, then they end up with redundacies. the share price goes up though so that must be ok then.

Has Ellesmere Port lost a lot of work recently, I know it produced the Astra / Vectra and V6 engines for a while have they removed the production of the Vectra now?

P.s I feel for you mate, it's not nice waiting for the axe to fall, even if it isn't you it's not nice to see work colleagues go.

The saying "thay don't know the meaning of the word enough" is absolutely true when said about big companies.........even those making billions still have to go in search of more and make 1000's and 1000's of their workforce redundant..........b'stards' etc etc etc

Labour is really working isn't it? The party for the workers my ar*e.
Jag shut, Rover shut, TVR job losses. Peugeot shutting, ICI shedding jobs and the list goes on and on. The sooner we get rid of these in fighting bed feathering sh*g ****s the better.

So sad to admit, they came in on the promise of improving Tory cutbacks, but all they seem to have done is to make this country a living hell, no dentists, long doc waiting times, open house to migrants, council tax doubled, affairs, lies, stealth taxes, petrol up 33%,crime, anti social ppl, and above all else dragged us into a war we didn't want or need.

I have this sneaking suspicion that Tony is really working for the Tories and has done all along, if he can make Labour unelectable for a long time again he's achieved the mission, why else would he not hand over to Gordon now? because he wants to ensure Gordon has no time to correct things if Gordon was to go back to the things John Smith wanted to do when he was leader.

I have been a Labour supporter for the whole of my voting life. After experiencing what they have done to most industries in this country including my own (Royal Mail) and all the above points in VauxVeteran post i can't see my voting for them in a very long time. I turned my back on them in the local elections last week.

Why would anyone want to vote for Gordon Brown. The architect of massive tax rises, stealth tax on pension schemes, attacks on the motorists, the man's a disgrace.

This Government proves the saying the power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely! I wouldn't spit on them if they were on fire.
