    Default thoughts on this please guys

    im thinkin about setting up as a mobile mechanic, doing just servicing and brakes ect, no major engine work, would any body that didnt know about engines use this kind of service or am i wastin my time, just wanted to get a few points of view

    If you could do warranty compliant services then I think you could be onto a winner mate. Getting the book stamped is always a bonus come selling time.

    id get a stam made up and give the customer the option of using gen dealer parts or oem parts, id then just charge for labour

    to qualify for book stamp with iirc all dealer's you have to be VAT registered as well as use all gen part's....

    and this would be explained to customers when given price, hopin for mainly cars after 3 year old but wouldnt be picky

    yes but must be VAT registered...

    my mate is just doing the same thing, spent a few hundred on compressor small balance machine etc in his van for mobile tyre changes also...how about looking into that side of it as well

    i dont want to do tyres side as not much money in it , used to work for a national tyre company , where i live there arnt that many garages around and the ones that are around charge 45 pound per hour labour and there the back street ones, wonder what it would take to get vat registered

    I think you would need a small garage or lock up to work from. You wouldn't want to spill oil on some ones drive. Definately get a stamp made up from Ebay. See a motor factors and get a discount going, you have got to make a bit on the parts too. The ones round here deliver the parts and invoice monthly. Don't forget to get suitable insurance.

    My friend is a part time mobile mechanic and he said it's quiet at the moment. I guess getting the car serviced is the least of their priorites for some. Word of mouth is key.
