    Default vec c egr(z22se)

    hi all wondering if someone could offer some advice,ive read and followed the threads about removal and cleaning of said valve and have followed it best i could but none that i can find are specific to my engine and i cant work out what bits need to be cleaned and how,also could someone advise me on how much im looking at for a cam chain and fit but not vaux prices,cheers

    2 bolts and lift it out mate, just give it a general clean, fit a Vx blanking plate but keep the wiring attached and never worry about it again. The ECU still can see the EGR so all's well. Blanking plate costs about £5. Re the chain, PM Benny on SE, cant tell you how much he charges but it will be far cheaper than VX and possible most independents. He only used latest VX parts and is a VX mechanic to boot.

    nice one but if i use the blanking plate and theres a fault with the egr that will still throw up a fault

    If the EGR just need a clean then you will be fine. If the EGR is faulty then buy the EGR Cheater from the Z22SE shop and totally get rid of the EGR.

    Just unbolt it, and get a tooth brush in there with some carb cleaner. Nothing to it really mate.

    As Rushy says mate , I've done it to mine, in fact taken off the egr altogether (cleaned up and sitting in the shed!!), blanked off and fitted the cheater, as you'll need this to stop any fault codes being thrown up, if you decided to blank off etc that is.
