    Default painting - advice needed

Been colour coding my chrome V however I've just screwed up the lacquer. Think it sprayed on too thick. Do I need to sand it back to the plastic or can I sand it back to the colourcoat, apply a fresh coat of colour and then lacquer it?

    Thanks,

    Ian

yeah just rub it back to colour nice and smooth and start again...you might find its not the best weather for using aerosols at home (if thats what your doing), you may find with this heat the paint dries in mid air before it even hits your grille and give a slightly dodgey finish.Best to take your time with the lacquer and go slow, its easy to think "one more coat and it will look mint" and before you know it your rubbing it back for the 5th time!

lol yeah, my problem this time was I think I had the can too close. A little too enthusiastic glad I only need to rub back to the colour coat though. Wasn't happy at the thought of having to rub it right back. Gutted anyways, was looking forward to having it back on the car. Oh well I learned something and good things come to those who wait right?

    thanks chaps

give it a quick coat of laq, leave it 5 mins to go tacky then give it a good thick coat, it has to be sticky for the last coat or it will run

nah, the lacquer seemed to end up with airbubbled in it or something where I sprayed to close, it is very visible so I'll need to rub down and re-do sadly.

will take a while but 1000 or 1200 grit to avoid deep sctratches a rub with soap will aid it and stop the paint clogging the paper up
