Default The R's grand tour of la belle France

We're off to 'do' France in August and I've started thinking about what the Vec will need.
    So far :

    Headlamp deflectors
Hi Vis jackets for each occupant
    Bulb kit
    First aid kit
    usual jack etc
    gaffer tape
a selection of spanners / tools
    WD40
    oil
    water
    footpump & tyre guage

    Oh yes, EU recovery...

Can anyone think of anything else I may need for the Vec?
    Cheers
    John

I'm sure you have to carry your documents with you in France in the car. Log book, insurance certificate and such like as you need to produce them by the roadside. I love France and even at the busiest times on their busiest roads it's nothing like this country. It's a pleasure to drive over there. Also Sunday is a good day to travel as my French mate reliably informs me that no HGVs are allowed on the roads in daytime hours.

Yep - got to have your V5c and insurance documents IN the car . Big no-no here - mandatory over there.

As you say, the roads are great especially on Sundays but note that not all petrol stations are open on a Sunday, especially on the smaller roads and in the smaller places.

I think that motorways and major roads should be OK, but I haven't driven in France on a Sunday recently. Also, some of the petrol stations that are open may be un-manned with only the automated credit card-only pumps open - these do NOT accept UK credit cards.

I got genuine GM first aid kit, high vis vest, warning triangle and bulb kit for about £20 off ebay. Well worth it and even came in vauxhall accessories box.

How about a battery booster just to make sure ? it boosts your battery, has a light and a compressor ?
