    Default Hire Cars

Just hired a car from Enterprise, as mines in for servicing on Thursday for juddering (earlier post) and it juddered like ******y today on the way to work. So i thought, i'll hire a car via work. Well, when i got back it was parked on my drive, a VX Zafira thingy (petol 1.6 i think!) I checked the sheet - it said a big bent on the drivers door.. OK, thats there, but nothing about the crack in the windscreen???
Oh and the 2 bold front tyres!!!!
I measured 1mm on both wheels, even the wear markers had worn.

The check sheet said 2mm.. I phoned then up and they explained that they are all checked before delivery etc, etc.

Talking about trying to get the last bit of use out of the tyres!

Needless to say, they can't change it tonight, so i'm having to get it changed in the morning. And that will cost me 2.5hrs extra to my day as they don't open until 08:00 for starters. Not happy

P.S. the camera wouldn't focus on the ruler, but the picture says it all ( i am supposed to do nearly 500miles with these tommorow)

Shouldnt be driven as your responsible if you're pulled. Tell them to come and collect there unroadworthy car and replace it with something you can drive

Hire cars through big companies are often hassle. When hiring a car for work purposes, I've had a Fiat Stilo where the rear door would sag when opened, and a Clio that stunk of fuel where the delivery driver had tipped over the monkey bike he'd had in the boot (for his return journey); both times the companies tried to fob me off and get me to keep the cars.

I know someone who recently rented a car from Enterprise. It was delivered with the sheet saying "small scuff on alloy wheel" - no mention that the side wall of the tyre had a chunk taken out of it. Needless to say they had to collect it and supply another one.

I don't know what it is with this company. A couple of years ago when I stuffed my previous Vectra-C, my insurance company sorted me a car out through Enterprise and I couldn't fault the service - apart from it being a Ford Ka they loaned me. Not their fault though, that was down to my insurance company penny pinching.

Think I would be walking to work. I have a pet hate about KA's and their drivers

I know you've stated you won't be driving it but nowadays its 3 points per illegal tyre if you get a really anal copper. how did they deliver the car. i'd be tempted to inform the police for wasting my time. I wouldn't of thought to check the car. I'm glad you posted this cos if i do get a hire car i will go over it with a tooth comb!!!
