    Default Going in tomorrow

Well, car goes in tomorrow to have new steering pump fitted and what do you know, ****** timing chain seems to be rattling now (started over the weekend), starts it's noise for the first 30 secs or so then seems to quieten down, so getting them to look at that while they've got in, phoned up Network Q earlier and asked them if it would be covered also under warranty given the fact that it should last for 100,000 miles and mines only done 36,000 and would appear that it's covered, (only got 'til 10th July left) so hopefully if they diagnose it as that then should be sorted, must say I'm beginning to lose my patience with this car lately, seems to be one thing after the other, passed it's MOT a couple of weeks ago and has been downhill since then!! perhaps one day Vx might design an engine that's actually any good, lol cars who'd 'ave 'em eh!!

The petrols are actually the better of the fuels in terms of reliability. But I will say thr 2.2 and 2.2 Direct from what I read on here seems to give the most problems than the rest even though these issues themselves are few and far between.

Typical isn't it, phoned me up this morning to tell me they've done the pump, but can't hear any other unusual noises!! what I reckon they've done is, fitted the pump, forgot to listen to engine and gone straight out on a test drive to check steering, then had a listen, but of course oil is well round the chain etc by then so it won't be heard!! anyway they are gonna have another listen later today after the car has sat for about 5 hours, so just praying they hear it this time or the car will be staying overnight for them in the morning, Grrrrr..

Will do mate, they heard a little something but only for a few seconds later today, so I've told them to keep the car overnight and listen again in the morning, as I pointed out to the workshop manager, this needs sorting as the fact is, if there's a little something there as he puts it , then it won't be long before it turns into a Big something!!

Hope so mate, although not holding my breath I have to say, seems to be the case most of the time though, in that, stick it into dealer, fault doesn't show!! mind you I did get lucky with the steering pump, so will be interesting to see what that's like when I finally get the damn thing back, it'll probably feel the same no doubt!! think I'm turning a bit cynical here lol, incidently if you see a silver vectra in flames on the hard shoulder of the M4 in the next couple of weeks, it'll be mine!! lol

Just an update ; steering pump fitted yesterday and new timing chain kit fitted today which was agreed this morning under network Q all done by Burnham Garage in Slough and have to say, Graham the Workshop controller there, has provided excellent service particularly with his correspondence i.e keeping me well informed of progress etc
so hopefully all is well, certainly seemed ok this afternoon , but will be interesting to see how it is from cold start in the morning.
