Default Is this the end of my vec

Friday at 16:20 in a statictic line of traffic, talking to my wife, engine running in neutral with the hand brake on.

thud - with a similar effect to a learner driver slipping their foot off the cutch with loads of throtal. My head was thrown forward and then back onto the head rest. Both me and the wife have whip lash.

A BL**DY big artic hit me from the back! Brand new the size of 2 inline dubble decker bus's. He didn't push me he bounced me? He must have taken me on the up as he pulled forward so to speak!

We pulled over and looked at my car, I have had a few bumps in the past [2 right offs and 2 good ones, in me younger days], so I expected to see the rear end all crumpled but nay only scratches?

The driver of the artic explained that from his driving position there is a blind spot of atleast 9 foot so all he saw was the car in front of me? He invited me into the cab (sleeper) and sure enough there is a blind spot.

My car is being chected out the begining of next week but to be honest I am expecting the worst such a thud must have done some dammage? Anyone any Ideas what to expect? Also my insurance (DL) have said that I should be prepared with the cost of replacing the car i.e like for like. So as anyone any ideas of the sort of price to replace a:

Vectra c saloon, Club, 52 plate, 53k on the clock, excellant condition.

    Kel
It was nicer with a boot

Blind spot? They are meant (by law now) to have convex mirrors on the side and front to prevent these things happening.

Hope you are both OK though and hope the car gets fixed. My mate had a Vectra B GSi that was written off last week, they gave him an Insignia as a courtesy!

Sorry to hear that mate, as long as only minor injuries sustained then the car maybe recoverable. Not nice tho.

I had the same thing at Christmas with a transit, again only scratches, took the bumper skin off and all fine, crash bar is perfect.

Quick look on Autotrader and to buy like for like at the moment you should budget £3000.
Add in personal injury claim for the pair of you and you should be able to nudge that up to around £6000 for a rather nice 3.2 GSi

However, the frontal area of a wagon starting to move, spread across a lot of the rear of a lightweight Vectra and there'll have been a hell of a lot of flex in your rear bumper skin. Don't be so ready to get a call telling you it's written off just yet.

yes been to hospital and they 'confirmed' whiplash - insurance already onto it and my insurance has alread put it down as a full no fault claim. As I said in my previous post this was a greater thud than my earlier 'thuds' so my expectations are not good! didn't see any mirrors but I think the driver would have agreed to anything?

Only on new vehicles reg from 2006 and they are on the passenger side of the front windscreen, Was he sitting on the floor or was the driver only 4'6. I am a LGV driver and the view is great sitting above the other traffic.

Not fit to be driving it, if he can't see where he's going.
    Shame the police didn't come.
