...but they took my photo any way. Yes I have just been photo'd for speeding on the M42. I was doing 90 and admit I was in the wrong, but as I had been stationary for over half an hour due to a jam, so I took the opportunity to get my foot down once the road cleared.

Gutted, been driving for 22 years (not continuously ha ha) and had a clean license until now. Easy money for the Government as if road tax and fuel duty isn't enough. I still sit in hope that there was no film in the camera but I won't hold my breath.

The upshot is that yesterday I bought a "new Road Angel". Shutting the door after the horse has bolted I know but can't afford to get hit again. Anyway I managed to get what I wanted by shopping around for two days. The average price is £250 each, but I was able to get three for £240 in total. Very chuffed with that. They should be here by registered post in the morning and ready to go about an hour later, after registration with Blackspot.com.

Bummer, but if it's any 'consolation' (I know it won't be), you'd have probably been pulled by a traffic car at that speed anyway.

What do you mean about the 'film in camera' bit? Are there overhead gantry cameras on the M42 then? Been a while since I've been up that way - used to travel to Redditch a lot in the past.

The M42 has cameras on every gantry now around the NEC area similar to the M25. Variable speed limits.

Yes they were the overhead ones, hidden behind the road information signs. I was told that they may not all be live all the time. I live in fading hope.

I have sold the other two Road Angels on already it was part of a deal at the time, sorry. I can trya nad get a bunch more if there is an out let for them.

Ah right. I never went up as far as that, hence me not seeing them/being aware of them.

You may be lucky Gripper, as you say it may not have film in it.

I think the cameras on the M42 are digital. and are always live....

yep they are specs cameras - average speed - no road markings - hidden behind gantrys didgital feed etc - however, there are lots of signs and the road is now notouriously a "no speed" area.

Sorry Kieth - I got done a couple of months back - would of been five years clear (insurance) but had the bumper off the astra nicked and picked up 3 points speeding - not fair is it?
