    Default car and spanner symbol

Been on holiday in wife's 2004 signum 1.9 cdti 150
Weather has been hot this week, 25'c
In the morning when car cold and only at this time, a symbol of a spanner and car has come up on dash. For 1 minute only. Then goes out, car runs fine. 45mpg, so not affected that. Been doing 200miles per day while away. Book says auto transmission/ engine elec fault/ diesel water in fuel filter. Assume it's the last one.
    Condensation?
    Any other idea's?
Will it stop, Do I need to book it in at stealer? Is it ok to run?

I think its just telling you there was a fault but not anymore. Should stop doing it after a while.

Exactly the same symptoms as my 1.9cdti and turned out to be glow plugs.

Its reporting that there has been a fault that has produced a code - which is now stored.

If the spanner light goes out - its just a stored code and the fault is currently not present
If the light stays on - fault currently present.

Get the code read and see what it was... I had the spanner light not so long ago flash on then off.. fault code was an information code on the egr valve movement - hasnt happened again since I cleared it

Car been to dealer, £54 for diagnostic check. Fault seem's to be glow plugs, They want £300 to replace, Is there 1 per cylinder?
Would they be covered by warranty? (she said she would find out)
Is it worth getting them done at another local garage (price)

£300 to replace glow plugs now thats an absolute rip off.... pretty easy DIY job. there are 4 to change and takes about 30/45 mins. Same as changing spark plugs on a petrol car. Just unplug elec connector on top, then using correct socket unscrew glow plug keeping it straight and not pounding on so it dont snap. Then fit new.

I had one glow plug that wasnt working on my 1.9 16 valve engine, the cost was £14.40 for a new one from my local Vauxhall dealer. It took all of 5 minutes to remove the old one and fit the new one. The price you have been quoted seems a bit over the top even if the dealership was including the control relay for the glow plugs as well.

4 glow plugs fitted £154. The check was under warrenty.

Problem, Wife picked car up. 1/2 home symbol came back on, car as no power, will only rev to 3000, sounds like no turbo, feels like it too. What have they done?

Also the washer jets don't work now, look like they've been pushed down, and black cover is loose.

Well I guess you or your wife will be going back to see them today then. It looks like your car did not even get taken out on the road for a test drive after they had finished replacing the glow plugs.Crumbs that was a crazy price to charge for that job.
