Default Anyone else on the scrapheap ?!

I keep hearing about all these redundancies and closures etc and was wondering if anyone else on here is suffering the same feelings as me ? im not even redundant yet but i will be come next wednesday and its really taking its toll , i've never understood "depression" but i feel i am now entirely in its grips , sitting in the house is killing me and i think i am sub consciously stopping myself enjoying the time by playing ps3\watching movies etc and i end up just staring at the telly wishing i was somewhere else , I'm arguing with the wife (more than usual!) i just want to sleep and cant wait to go to bed each night and i'm drinking like a fish. I'm keeping a strong front when the kids are around but inside i'm dying . Hopefully as of next week i can get some contracting work and things might feel better (even tho i'll be earning what i was when i 21!) but at the moment i can only see the dark side of things and i'm really struggling.

Dunno why i'm posting this but hey ho desperate times and all that . . .

When you're going through a time like that I think it human nature to only look at the downsides to it all, its mightily difficult to look at the upsides.

Like you, I had to leave my permanent job and join the ranks on contracting, but I have never looked back - infact its made me wonder why I never done this before.

Think of it as whole new challenge and a new exciting direction.

Also.... its vitally important to keep close all those around you (i.e. your wife) she is essentially going through it all too, so be nice

I too had to change the car I had at the time, and that was something I had wanted for a long time, as I suspect the Scoob was for you.

Made redundant in Feb and now working for 40% of what I earned last year. Life isn't easy, but remember there are more fortunes to be made at the bottom than at the top.

On the bright side become a dad in April and bought an 07 250bhp Siggy for £8K in May so things could be worse

You'll get one again (if you want one that is) - be sure of that
