    Default Power Steering Fluid Sensor

I have a faulty sensor and I'm having a little trouble working out how to change it.

    I drive a 2002 SRi 2.2 dti prefacelift Vec.

I took the bumper off to get to the bottle located here:

The only problem is there doesnt seem to be enough room to get the sensor out and I cant get a good grip on it to turn and unlock it anyway:

    This is the new sensor:

Has anyone changed one of these, can you offer any advice. Can i get the old one out with the bottle in situ or do I need to unbolt and move the bottle?

    Cheers
    Jus

I need some info on this aswell. I need a new sensor but dont know what its called at the dealers and how much it is. I would take mine to a mates and drop the full pump out to remove sensor but it looks hard to do as a DIY job.

If you unbolt the cage the steering pump sits in you should be able to tilt the pump enough to remove the sensor.

If you quote the reg no and ask for power steering reservoir level sensor the dealer should be able to quote a price. It may have to be ordered in. HTH

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but does anyone know how much a new sensor is, and the part number? I've got part number 93172351 from opeloem.com but can't find anywhere that sells this?

I've taken mine out to clean it but it looks like it's not cleanable as the sensor is a sealed tube with what looks like a floating magnetic pickup.

I'm going to resign myself to buying a replacement sensor, but not having much luck finding one without paying for a full pump assembly

The sensor is no longer serviced - i.e. you can't buy it. You'll have to get a used one (and hope it works - if you can fit it as it needs the pump assembly moving to create enough room) or get a dealer to do the necessary wiring change and re-programming to ignore it.

I can get to it no bother, took it out earlier thinking it was just an electrical contact to clean

Is there any way to ignore it in Vaux-com?
