how do you know if the code is stored

can you help had my signum in limp mode (spanner light showing ) yesterday then the engine light came on and has been on all day now ive just been out and none off the lights are on and the car seems fine i got it going in tomorrow (the dealer) will a code be stored as the lights no longer show i have try reading my self after reading how to on here but that method does not seem to work on my car.

If its stored the fault light will light and then go out when its started.

If a warning light comes on you know a fault has been stored.

it went in today its the fuel pump again surprise surprise, they told me this pump is a new style and will last! lets see hey .
