Been meaning to do it for ages now and finally got around to it on Saturday as a Fathers Day present.
Firstly started off by pre-soaking the bodywork to make the dirt easier to remove. I have one of those pump-up pressure sprayers that i used to do my garden fence just the once so i'm putting it to good use. Used it quite a few times this way now and it works a treat; handy for those who cannot afford the snow foam set up. Basically put a high concentrate of my Megs shampoo in the sprayer and fill it with hot water. Then spray the car and let it dwell for about 15 mins. Them flies on the front just fall off!
Once soaked i then pressure washed it off, washed it with the 2 bucket method and dried. Then i clayed the whole car including all glass, washed again using the 2 bucket method and dried. Next was to apply Auto Glym Super Resin Polish then buffed off. This was then followed by a coat of Poorboys EX-P Sealant and buffed off. The final coat on the bodywork was something i've been wanting to use for ages after purchasing it at Brands Hatch earlier this year and that was Autosmart Carnuba wax. Bit of a pig to buff off as the bodywork was slightly warm from the sun but waited for it to cool and it was ok. Mega impressed at the glossy shine. Finally, cleaned all the glass inside and out with Autobrite glass cleaner and treated the tyres with Megs High Endurance Tyre Gel.
Extremely impressed with the results as was my dad. Did the water test on the bonnet after the final wax coat and i didn't need to dry it off; the water just sheeted straight off!
On Sunday, Fathers Day, i gave him some more prezzies to keep the bodywork in tip-top condition and they were Megs Softwash Gel, Megs Last Touch Detailer, Megs NXT Tech Wax and a load of microfibres and applicators. Over the moon was an understatement.
Anyway, enough waffling on. Here are the pics. All comments welcome.
(Note in the last but one pic, as i was taking the photograph, as well as my dad's black Meriva, and my black Vectra parked up, what went passed as i clicked? Another black Vectra)!
Cheers guys, Paul.
