Default Thinking of selling the CDTI for something petrol?

Keep thinking about selling the vec C CDTI 150 to get something petrol and a bit quicker.

Always wanted a astra G GSI.

Only thing holding me back is i do around 400-500 miles a week and thats one tank of diesel whereas it would be nearer 2 tanks of petrol. Although most of the miles I do are purely because i know i can drive anywhere and not worry about filling up. I think if i was to drive petrol again i would cut down my weekly mileage.

    Any thoughts guys?

Why buy a different car to drive less.....????

The reason I got my CDTi was so I could drive more, I love driving, but hate always worrying if there was enough juice in the tank, could I get to where I want to go without refueling etc.....

If its purely performance you're after, spend upto £500 on the CDTi and get it remapped, it won't be far off (if at all) a Astra GSI then (infact on the road performance will be almost identical) and still give you the freedom to go where you want, when you want.

i personally feel the vectras fuel eco isnt all that good tbh, i feel it should be alot better!

the astra is a great car (ive had one) but the fuel usage isnt really all that bad if you behave your self!
the same with the vectra if you decide to give it some push the fuel just dissapears as does with any car which is why i try to just keep below 200rpm at all times.

the main bits for the astra is ( revs higher and feels more sporty and racy, a tuned astra is really quick! and still look lovley and are scary when they fly up ur ass.)

if your fed up with the vectra just change and see how you get on, you only live once, ive had 4 cars the last 3 years because i get bored and want to explore, but the vectra i plan on keeping for like 2 years..

    great advice mate

i bought the vectra because i needed something reliable (which it has been - touch wood not missed a beat). I was running a 3.0 vectra B before which i could easily afford to run it just had to many niggly problems i couldnt sort.

I miss the speed of the vectra and the smaller turboed engines give reasonable mpg still.

    Just cant decide......

anyone think it may be worth getting a tuning box for the vectra first to see if the performance difference keeps me happy?

Still never gunna have the drivability of a petrol car tho or the exhaust note....

    Get it mapped mate

That's what i'm going to do. I'm going to take it to Cambridge (Torqueing BHP, something like that) and spend £300 on a remap. You'll keep the economy side (if not increase if you go easy) and more power and smoother rev range
