Welcome to the site. I hope we can help you with your future mods. I belive yoir motor is a bit like mine you can not do too much. Uless you want to spend an awfull lot of money replacing things like camshafts. Making it breath better. A better exhaust system. I don,t know of a good re-map for the 1.8 though.
No doubt if I need to be corrected someone will enlighten us.

as ed says the 1.8 is a bit of a no tuner for small money, you can always go the route of an induction kit or a vxr air intake with the airbox mod and k&n panel filter to get more air in, then to help with getting rid of the gasses a bigger less restrictive exhaust system..this will give you about 10% - 15% more power overall, stay away from the ''EBAY RESISTOR CHIP'S'' as they are a waste of time and money, if you have a bottom less pot of money then you can go for...

head ported/polished - high lift cam's - turbo conversion with and without stronger internal's - lightweight pully's/flywheel etc etc.....

Welcome to the site mate, buy a 2.0 T if you want to go faster is my honest advice for the money. For what you'd gain for the money I don't think it's really worth it.

Good luck with whatever you do,

    Robbie
