Its the engine, not the whole car

But thats not the signum model, its the HP pump issue on the 2.2 directs. I have seen a few of these threads where the new pumps just fail

i'm of the same opinion as craig2.2, i have had vauxhalls for years without a problem, seems to me they have gone overboard with hi tech gadgets but have failed in the quality dept, my car has now become so unreliable that when i go out in it i wonder if it will make the journey and whats worse is that even the dealers are unable to sort it out.

It's a total nightmare for all of us afflicted.

You'll note that Vx appear to be withdrawing the 2.2 Direct engine from new models, it isn't available on the Insignia for a start.

I think that's just temporary while they finish working on it as a HCCI version. http://www.autobloggreen.com/tag/hcci+engine/
Probably be introduced on the facelift, possibly deleting the 1.8 (should have about the same economy as the 1.8 but significantly more power).

They're claiming about 5 years until HCCI engines are in production.

That's about 30 FPR replacements later for my Siggy then....

i don't think it's the engine itself thats the problem to be honest, i traded my 99frontera 2.2dti (same engine) in for my vectra and i had no real problems to speak of except i had to clean out the inlet manifold once but after that i had no more probs, i had it for 6 years, i personally think vauxhall have used cheap and chearfull components (that are expensive to us) i.e. electronic sensors that are just not up to the job.
